When Allah hides your faults
your sins are understood
and if not born of necessity, remedied

never preventing your enjoyment of
what is lawful and good
or the need to learn from your own mistakes

When a friend hides your sins
your faults are forgotten
but when Shaytan hides your sins

you forget yourself

If the gifts of truth or justice or wealth
are held aloft as trophies
heaven snatches away their beauty
