ISLAM AND CULTURE
'Islam and Culture' is  multidisciplinary approach to researching contemporary Islamic practices whereby religion and culture are understood as integral to each other. In the Tasneem Project, an approach is under development which privileges as participants those Muslim voices who resist Western racist, Islamophobic and imperialist discourses as well as those Muslims whose practices are in tension with Muslim elites. Its analysis focuses on the representation and reproduction of regimes of truth, preferring autoethnographic narratives as its research outcome, in keeping with its radical anti-elitist stance.
